Ryan Thunderheart

The Wandering Shot

27 | he/him | bi | rdm & mch

Born to two mothers, a Wildwood Elezen mother from Eorzea and a Hingan apothecary named Kanna, Ryan was originally born on the outskirts of Doma, prior to its full occupation by Garlean interests as the eldest of two children.

His mother Kanna is promptly disappointed in having her firstborn a son, and leaves all responsibilities with respect to childcare to her foreign, and anxious partner. Not too soon after he turns two, do his parents begin to try for a second child and get the daughter they wanted. As they grow up, it becomes painfully apparent that his mother will always find fault in no matter what he tries to do--and he gives up trying to impress anyone, because it feels like wasted effort. His parent from Eorzea spends a lot of time with him, spinning stories of a far off place called Ishgard, a land at war with great Dravanian beasts and protected by the noble Azure Dragoon.

The family moves as tensions begin to rise in Othard, all the way to the Black Shroud, where the family starts anew under the blessing of the elementals.

(The Kami, his mother often corrects the conjurers of this strange land under her breath, the Kami give their blessings, not these foolish elementals they speak of.)

Ryan takes up as many trades as he can manage, so he could keep his hands busy and distance from his family he didn't necessarily much like to be around. Spending most of his time in his own workshop, he builds and tinkers and works himself to the bone so he's tired enough to just pass out and not think too hard about what truly upsets him.

Such peace doesn't last, once the calamity comes and nearly tears the land asunder; his family all separate for safety's sake, but being told to get lost rather than stay and be more trouble cuts him to the quick. In the chaos, he is grabbed by a legion of imperial soldiers as a possible test subject for recreating Allagan technology for easier use by the army. The years of experiments leave him scarred and with an arm replaced with a magitek prosthetic, and much of his will to live in tatters, until a group of auri imperial orphans manage to help him escape, but refuse to come with him. He doesn't tarry long in imperial territory after being shown hospitality by the locals of Gyr Abania, before making his way into Gridania and laying low as an adventurer and artisan.

Personality
Ryan initially comes off incredibly flirtatious if you've caught him at the bar, offering to buy you a drink or if you'd do the same for him. Forwardness is his specialty, and he won't hesitate to try and escalate things with another person (with explicit permission, of course) until they're alone. He revels in in the pleasures of another's company, friendly or intimate. Most of his interactions are rather transient and he doesn't get too attached to his many, many partners. No hard feelings, of course.Beneath whatever façade he's wearing today, is a very brilliant artisan and well read mage. He loves nothing more than to tinker and create--much of his free time, regardless if he is the warrior of light or just a regular adventurer--is devoted to helping rebuild Ishgard and provide things for the residents of the newly restored Firmament and in-progress reconstruction of the Brume. He's an artisan of many disciplines, but he favors both goldsmithing and blacksmithing most of all.

Feel free to walk up to me if I have my tag on, otherwise I'm just vibing doing content or something. If you would like to do some longer form rp after we've gotten to know each other, I do that through discord. I can do anywhere from a paragraph to hundreds of word responses. I'll tend to stick to a couple lines in game.I'm 21+, so I will NOT discuss any explicit content in or out of character if you're underage. I also have very little interest in ERP unless I really know you.You can just call me Ryan in and out of character, he/him, new to rping in xiv.Crystal DC, Balmung and I usually am playing in the evenings if I am not raiding/doing stuff on my main character.I also write relatively actively on AO3, if you're into that sorta thing.

Need some work done?
Looking for a unique piece of a jewelry? Have something sentimental you need restored, or is beyond the means of your market board hovering mender? He's the guy for the job. It'll cost you, though.
"What's a cute guy like you doing alone at the bar?"
Buy him a drink, and maybe he won't be so lonely. You're sure to be good company.Others
There's rumors that he's been searching for some people since relations with the Far East opened back up, and is looking for some help. You've definitely seen that face somewhere before, right? Where was it...oh! Right. On a wanted poster in a Castrum. Something about a missing experiment subject...
